Obama in Charlotte - details

Barack Obama will be appearing at the Hayes Recreation Fields on the UNC Charlotte campus Monday, the campaign announced this evening.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m.; doors open at 3 p.m.

Here's a campus map. The Hayes fields are located in the northwest corner of the campus.

Campus parking is limited, but shuttle services will be provided. The event is free and open to the public; tickets are not required. Members of the public are encouraged to RSVP and get details about shuttle services at www.nc.barackobama.com.

(Update, 8 p.m.: Shuttle details are not up on the Obama site yet.)

Obama's visit will be his eighth to North Carolina, and this latest stop affirms the state's tossup status. Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin is appearing at a rally in Raleigh this evening.

Here you go again Pete promoting Obama's events in your column. And since your link isn't working for your McCAIN ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE link, I'll mention it here! McCAin will be on SNL tonight!

It will be interesting how many NON-makers of the wealth (non-working people) will be able to attend the 5:30 Obama function. Vote for McCain-Palin if you want to keep your hard earned money! NO MORE TAXES, MR. OBAMA!!!

All the nastiness and snide comments will end on Tuesday when the US will again elect a leader with the intellectual skills and sound plans to rebuild this great country. I voted early for the best choice for the future of America a true American - Barack Obama.

Peter, is there ever an instance where you, or the Observer, would not be biased against the Republican candidate?

"Taxed to death" must be very, very wealthy to worry about his taxes. I wish people would listen to what the man says rather than what morons like Limbaugh and Palin say about what he says. I'm voting for the smart guy this time. (Actually, I already did!)

taxed to death

Grow up and quit whining. The universe does not revolve around you. Your hubris is pathetic.

Though noboby wants to to pay more taxes than necessary, taxes are an inescapable cost of living in a stable society and on the public services that we all depend on including YOU.

I love these loyal Patriots who are so disrespectful to the next Commander in Chief! Get ready to salute President Obama, unless you are not real Americans.

Let's just settle this now, ok? Everyone, everywhere, all the time, is out to get conservatives.

Don't try parking on campus, park off campus. The campus police sent out an email to students, faculty and staff this morning telling us the parking lots closets to the fields are going to be closed for 24 hours before the event. Try parking at the shopping center across HWY 29 and take a shuttle; I'm sure there will be signs posted. And, NOTE, it is the entrance on 29 that you want, not the entrances on 49. Look for the new construction, crane and construction parking lot.

Campus parking is limited on average school days, plus you have to have a permit or pay visitor's fees.

We are no longer a Republic.

We are now a Mobocracy.
